School days,
School days,
Dear old golden rule days,
Reading and writing and rithmetic,
Teachers that beat you with hickory sticks.
For thirteen years , times three, I sang that song on the first day of school for my girls. Regardless of their age they heard their mom approaching their room singing that cheerful little tune.
Little did I know I would one day have that same tune approaching me bright and early one morning.
This blog about going back to school when most people are thinking about retiring. Why would anyone in their right mind choose to do this. I chose to because I had no excuse not to. My last daughter Andie was situated in her dorm at West Georgia, My oldest daughter Heather was married to her sweet Daniel, and Kirstie, the little link in the middle holding them together, was working hard towards her degree in History. I had just completed the year from hell. I had to graduate one daughter and marry off the other. Andie graduated the last week in May and Heather got married the first week in June. The house was way to quiet, I loved substituting and figured what the hell.
I have to thank Middle Georgia E.core for making it so easy. Could I actually handle taking a class, studying, homework, and tests, not to mention, I despise failure; especially public failure. Online courses allowed me to find the answers without having to publicly fail. I am not sure private failure would be any better, but I am sticking to the reasoning. Long story short, I got two A's and one B, and a license to forge ahead.
My husband's favorite joke was he is married to a Freshman but, now he is married to a Junior. A Junior taking a Digital Media class she thought would help her to produce online presentations for the English classes she would hopefully teach one day. So I sit here trying to blog. I realized during class this week that I have more to say about what I have recently joked with my friends and family about, my active adult lifestyle. This is where we all laugh. But seriously, school is but one part of the picture. I am going to blog about one adventure a week, and how I manage to fit that into school.
It seriously just started to rain and I have a jeep. Sounds like time to get a little mud on the tires.
